May 4th is the premiere of the season’s long-awaited boat trips to and from Artipelag.
Arriving to Artipelag by the sea route via Baggen’s Bay after a beautiful boat trip through the archipelago is an experience that many greatly appreciated during our first season. The journey takes about an hour and a half, and it is easy to take the bus back to the city with our comfortable Artipelag bus.
Welcome to Artipelag for Easter! We will be open longer on Easter Monday, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and will also be driving extra rounds with the Artipelag bus on both Good Friday and Easter Monday!
Come and see our new exhibition, Poul Gernes/Sidekick/Cosima von Bonin, in the Art Hall and don’t miss our introductory guided tours. The delicious buffet, freshly baked goods, and sandwiches are as usual available at Bådan Café & Buffet. Restaurant Baggen will be offering a delightful Easter menu on Saturday just before Easter. On Friday 8 March, we open the exhibition Poul Gernes/Sidekick/Cosima von Bonin to those of you who feel you have waited long enough. On Saturday, we will have an open vernissage and the formal opening of the exhibition at 2 p.m. by art director Bo Nilsson. In celebration, opening days March 8 & 9 we have a special offer: Entrance (adults) to the exhibition plus the exhibition catalogue for 350 SEK!

The Veryday company has been awarded the gold in the internationally renowned competition, IF Design Awards, for the November Chair it made for Artipelag. The November Chair, with over 4,500 other competitors, received the recognition of IF Gold Award as one of the world’s most coveted design awards.
It was in fall 2011 that Peter Ejvinsson and Emmy Larsson, both industrial designers at Veryday, received the prestigious commission of designing a chair that would function as a dining chair at Artipelag. The requirements were for a chair that was comfortable, beautiful and durable. The biggest challenge for the design team was to design a chair for an environment that at that time did not yet exist, and to do so under very tight deadlines. The chair had to harmonize with a central meeting place for innovative cultural activities and reflect the surroundings of the beautiful and fascinating archipelago environment.
“Björn Jakobson came to us with the charge of designing a beautiful chair that would be suitable in the restaurants at Artipelag. We had little time; the chair had to be ready for Artipelag’s inauguration a half year later, so there was no time to lose”, said Peter Ejvinsson, industrial designer at Veryday.

From 11-17 February 2013, Stockholm Art Week - a platform for the Stockholm art scene - will be held for the first time. Leading institutions, museums, fairs and other participants will arrange special events during the week. A wonderful initiativ to show the world what a fantastiv city for arts that Stockholm is!
The week will start off with the inauguration on Monday, 11 February. During the week, the leading fair for contemporary art in the Nordic region – MARKET – will be held for the eighth time. The artist-run fair – Supermarket – takes place at Kulturhuset and the Antiques Fair will open its doors in Älvsjö. Also, Fotografiska will launch PhotoMarket, a fair showcasing some of the worlds leading photography galleries.
At Artipelag the exhibition Enlightened is at it's closing week and we will provide introduction tours to the exhibition with our hosts and family tours at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Many other of the largest och best art institutions are opening new exhibitions and offering specail events.

We are nearing the end of January and, as previously stated, we have had the pleasure of extending the exhibition ENLIGHTENED until 17 February. Take the opportunity to see our exciting exhibit of electric light from some of the world’s most well known artists.
On the 8th of March, we open the doors for Artipelag’s next exhibition, SIDEKICK, featuring Poul Gernes and Cosima von Bonin – shown together for the first time in Sweden.
This summer, we will be highlighting American artist William Wegman in the exhibition HELLO NATURE.
Autumn’s exhibition of BLACKBOARD - Art from Learning / Learning from Art will continue into the following year of 2014.

In cooperation with PROSK8 and Grandins Flying Circus, Artipelag presents the Stockholm Skateboard Festival – a colourful celebration of everything fun about skateboards. Come and ride in our skate park in the nearly 13,000 square foot Artbox! Grand opening on Boxing Day.
The Chairperson of Värmdö will inaugurate the skate park at 1 p.m. on Boxing Day, December 26, 2012.
